SHAH ALAM, Nov 10 — PAS Selangor commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Ali (picture) is ready to face the music in his party as he today played down the significance of a show cause letter against him as party of efforts to streamline activities.

The Islamist party’s disciplinary committee had issued the letter yesterday over allegations that he had discredited the Pakatan Rakyat government in Selangor and the party leadership.

“To me its not a big issues because it nothing to do with criminal behaviour or abuse of power,” said the Selangor executive councillor at the state assembly here.

“The issue is clear and I have no doubts or worries, this is normal,” he added.

Hasan said he would preparing to respond to the show cause letter in writing and if need be, will give an explanation in person.

He declined to reveal the contents of the show cause letter saying it was an “internal party matter” and something “between him and the party” but said it included his criticisms against the Select Committee for competency, accountability and transparency (Selcat).

When asked if the show cause letter was unfairly issued to him, Hasan said fairness was ‘subjective’.

“I am member of the party and if there are allegations, I must answer them” he said, adding there must be some basis to the complaint.

He said he would cooperate with the disciplinary committee to find a solution to the problem and this may be the best way, because he is being given an opportunity to defend himself.

Hasan added that he did not know who lodged the complaint against him, but it did not come from PAS Selangor, because he would know as he was the state commissioner.

Yesterday PAS disciplinary committee chairman Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Hasan could be relieved of his position or sacked if they find him guilty of acting against the party’s interest.

He added that show cause letters were also sent to other unidentified state leaders and investigations are underway.

Hasan had been accused of trying to discredit the Selangor Mentri Besar and have repeatedly clashed with his Pakatan Rakyat colleagues as well as some from his own party.

Ignored by his allies, he was seen having lunch with two state lawmakers from MCA and other from Umno which drew the attention of the media and snide smiles from his colleagues.
